Modular Design

A modular design is key for future proofing our products. It enables repairs and upgradability. Below you can explore the carbon footprint on a component level.

Interactive Carbon Footprint

Extending the lifetime of our products is the single most important factor we can do to fight climate change. With smart tech being built into loudspeakers of today they become quickly outdated.

Use the slider below to see how the carbon footprint change if you choose to upgrade or replace your loudspeaker every 5 years.
The climate impact of materials and components are based on the weights of material used in the product, and calculated using generic data from the LCA database Ecoinvent. The calculations include climate impact related to raw material extraction and processing, and manufacturing processes.
The climate impact of assembly is based on an estimated average electricity use for assembling the speaker.
The climate impact of packaging is based on actual packaging weights, and calculated with generic data from the LCA database Ecoinvent.
The climate impact of transportation are calculated based on generic data from the LCA database Ecoinvent. The calculations include transports from suppliers and an estimated transport to customer.
The climate impact during the use phase comes from electricity use. The impact is calculated using a scenario of 500 hours of use per year, a measured energy consumption of each speaker and an electricity mix representing the global average.
The climate impact of waste treatment at the product's end of life is calculated using generic waste treatment scenarios for electronical products, available in the LCA modelling software SimaPro.

Timeless Design

This special edition explores the sculptural, more organic geometry because of its artistic expression as well as the acoustic properties of organic shapes. The inspiration of the Acoustic Sculpture was the human ear and acoustic horn shapes from nature such as a seashell. The horn shapes in the sculpture naturally amplifies the sound from the speaker elements.

Made to Order

Per has pushed jesmonite to the next level by making a special 3d printed cast for the base shape. After your order is placed the gypsum mineral material is made castable by a acrylic resin. The finished cast is then sprayed with a second layer that creates the unique organic texture of the sculpture. Jesmonite composite was invented in the UK as a less environmentally impactful option to resin, plaster and concrete back in 1984 by Peter Hawkins (that’s still involved in it’s development today).

Transparent Sound

Transparent sound refers to a loudspeakers ability to channel the true intention of a musician through to the listener. We tune the drivers to perform perfectly in the unique sealed acoustic volumes creating high quality sounds from our premium components. Our special editions come with the same five star sound performance as our permanent collection.

The acoustic sculpture shape maximizes the soundwaves path from the driver elements while also enhancing the stereo separation between the two drivers. With the sculpture you get crisp and punchy timbre (tone color) adding an extremely subtle touch that makes the object even more interesting and personal.

Forever Upgradable

Our fundamental aspiration as a brand is to explore how tech objects can become truly timeless and to what extent they may transform the wear-and-tear consumer culture. We design loudspeakers that are as much an interior decoration object, this is why we up-cycle components into crafted special editions.
