Why Transparent?

Being transparent means stopping corporate bullshit and talking honestly at eye level with our users, backers and extended creative community. Transparent signifies that we share our passion and journey openly.

Transparent Design

Design is often used to put a fancy surface onto something. We want to do the exact opposite. We want to show products as they really are. The main materials of our products – aluminium and glass, are chosen for their ability to last a long time, and to exist in recycled material streams. We are constantly working to increase recycled sources with the aim of closing the material loop.
Transparent products also blend into any background. This is of course also the idea behind the products... to let a tech object become a part of any style, any place or any time.

Transparent Sound

In the world of audio, the term transparent audio refers to a loudspeakers ability to channel the true intention of a musician through to the listener. It is our ambition to bring the listener closer to the music. To offer a rich and authentic musical experience. We don't decorate the sound – instead we celebrate the iconic, music-making elements.

Timeless Electronics

Our products are designed for a circular economy. Apart from a long lasting quality and appearance, this means a modular design that can be repaired and upgraded over time with technology constantly evolving. This way, users can keep their product updated by their preference and change only a small part, instead of replacing the whole unit. Transparent products will get better with age and we will do what we can to remove electronic waste from the world.

How It All Started

Founders Per and Martin was part ot the renowned Stockholm design studio People People for almost 10 years. In between projects for major international consumer electronics brands, they envisioned the Transparent Speaker in a blog post that went live on 11/11/11. In the post they outlined sustainable design philosophy and a solution to the war going on in the living rooms of the world – the never ending battle between home electronics and interior design. The post went viral, people literally begged them to put it on Kickstarter, this lead to completing a successful crowdfunding campaign 2013 and the rest is history.
